Many people have mistakenly thought that the purpose of salvation is the forgiveness of sin to avoid perishing. That’s not what John 3:16 is saying. Sure, not perishing in hell is an important part of what Jesus came to do. He accomplished that by paying the debt for all our sins - past, present, and even the ones we haven’t committed yet. Salvation, however, is much more than getting our sins forgiven so we can go to heaven instead of hell. If all you did was ask Jesus to forgive your sins so you wouldn’t perish, then you are missing out on Eternal Life.

The human spirit was created with the capacity for spiritual life-function so that the very presence of the Spirit of God might dwell within the spirit of man in order that man might choose to participate with the character of God and allow for the character expression of God through the behavior of man.

Eternal Life is a person. We receive this person at spiritual regeneration. Eternal life is knowing God. The apostle John wrote that “He that has the Son has life; he that does not have the Son does not have life” (I John 5:12).

Whatever man’s need might be, Christ doesn’t just offer solutions, He offers Himself. His eternal life is more than an answer it is a vital, personal relationship with the One who laid down His life for you so that He could give His life to you, and live His life through you. Jesus said, “I AM the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25).

Don't miss out on Eternal Life in an effort to make it to heaven. Experience the joy of Christ's Life every day.
